My July 4th was pretty good... I started off by purchasing a new bed for my room. Finally! I chose a fairly traditional oak headboard and a queen-size mattress (very firm!) from Wickes. A family friend works at the store and he helped me with the sale. I expect to have the bed delivered next Wednesday.

I ended up just watching a nearby fireworks show from my balcony with my mom last night. :) My parents and I (my sister is out of town camping with a friend this weekend) had been planning to go to the actual park where the fireworks show was, but my dad was tired from work, and my mom had gone to a lunch party earlier in the day so she was also a little tired. Anyway, we waited for almost an hour before the show started. So it turned out to be a good thing that we didn't go all the way to the park otherwise we would have had to just sit around. But since we were at my house, my mom had time to help me do some houseplant maintenance (specifically, rescuing my bamboo plant that had grown too tall to stand itself upright any more).

I had a fairly productive day today as well; scheduled a service for my a/c (which is still on the fritz), did a little shopping at Best Buy, got a car wash, went to the gym, did some grocery shopping, and returned the favor to my mom by helping her plant some vegetables in her garden. :)
