What am I thinking? What am I doing? This is where I'll be sharing the goings-on around my world each day/week/however frequently I get around to writing something down. :) [This was my "everyday" blog from June 2002 through December 2005. Please see my LiveJournal for current entries!]

We had a bit of a scare yesterday. Mom was in a car accident on I-290 while driving to work. Apparently, she slowed down to avoid hitting a car in front of her that was in a spinout (the roads were rather slick) and then an 18-wheeler hit her from behind. Yikes! Fortunately, she was not seriously hurt... she called me as soon as it happened, told me she was shaken but felt okay otherwise, and to call Dad. Next I heard from her, she was at a hospital in Elmhurst where she was taken just as a precaution and released. Since the hospital is near my work, I picked her up, then we went to the towing place to retrieve some of her belongings from the car. The trunk of the car was totally smashed in, but the passenger section was mostly intact. I then took her home... Lola hadn't heard anything (Dad chose not to tell her so she wouldn't worry needlessly, since Mom was fine) but got emotional when she found out what happened. Dad said we should try to replace the car with one just like it since it did its job so well by protecting Mom. :) Anyway, thank God that Mom and the rest of the drivers involved were not hurt badly. Now they can just focus on figuring out what they can get from the car insurance and such. Whew!
