Whew!

I took the first exam/quiz in my Financial Accounting class tonight. I managed 87.5% raw score... hopefully the curve will work in my favor. As is, that's barely an A- so it's not bad, but I would have liked to have done better. :P

In other news... I am going to be doing some car-shopping in the very near future. With my mom's car having been totaled, my parents and I have decided that they will "purchase" my car with the insurance money they received, and I will use that money towards a downpayment on a new car for myself. This works out for all of us, because 1) they get my car which is still fairly new (2001 model) and in good shape, and 2) I had been planning on getting a new car some time this year anyway. Actually I am losing out in a way because I could have traded in my car for a few grand more than what my parents will be giving me, but I'd much rather them have my current car than take their chances with some other used car. Anyway, I hope to be able to do some test-drives this weekend! I have a model in mind already and will in all likelihood go with that one, but I should check out some other alternatives. I've also gotten pre-approved for a loan so I shouldn't have to deal too much with the finance guys at the dealerships!

In yet other news... Lolo Atoy reportedly spent a few days in the hospital in the Philippines last week and weekend. Fortunately he is doing better and is back home now. He's 98 years old (!) so obviously we were all quite worried about his condition, but he's a tough cookie apparently. I really should plan a visit to the Philippines to see him and my other relatives there some time soon.
