Day of the Dad

Happy Father's Day. :) I got my dad a new fishing rod and tackle box. When he went on his fishing trip last weekend (his first one in a number of years) apparently his buddies remarked on how old his fishing rod was :) so Mom suggested I get him a new one. I didn't actually see my dad this weekend - when I was over at their house before/after going to church with Lola, he and Mom were at an anniversary party for one of their friends, and yesterday they were at a wedding. Why is it that my parents have more active social lives than me? But I digress... Anyway, he did call to thank me for the gift a little while ago so at least we got to talk a little. :)

I went to the gym twice last week (see my new LiveJournal for more details) and was sore for days after each workout. This is what I get for laying off gym for six weeks. :P

At work on Tuesday, I get to "teach" a class to our latest crop of new hires. Actually I will just be giving an overview of our company's travel policies, and offering suggestions on how to balance work/life when on a travel assignment. I guess management figured I'd have some good advice to share, since I spent the bulk of 2004 out of town for work. :) Hopefully I'll do okay, I always get really nervous speaking in front of a group but usually I manage to pull it off well enough.
